Humanities is the academic discipline that allows a person to analyze meanings of works. Humanistic works include music, poetry, literature, performances, art, and anything that is created by people that document life. Each piece can vary in content, subject, but allow a way to share the emotions and stories from years prior to present day. Humanities is the bridge from past and present cultures that also acts as a stair for planning for the future. This discipline provides a way to not only understand the past but connect events throughout time and place. It acts as a platform to compare expression through different mediums and allow students to ponder how a contemporary dance number shows the same agony as a love letter to a lost one. Humanities show how there is a universal language of emotion that usually cannot be emitted from anything people create. Unlike math and science humanities showcase the omnipresent state of human emotions.
